This requires the Player by vmware®, which emulates a virtual operating system on your computer and is free for download on www.vmware.com Please regard notes and license terms of the creators.

The STARFACE Virtual Machine comes with the entire feature set except for phone conferencing and application of hardware components (like ISDN/T1 devices, adapters or gateways). Nevertheless, we recommend using this STARFACE variant only for testing and evaluation – not in production environments!

Step by step:

• Installation of VMware Player
• Download of STARFACE VMware Version
• Unpack the downloaded archive
  
• Double click the .vmx file
• The Player is opening: create a new UUID if asked.
• Start the virtual machine.
• STARFACE is booting.
• After the boot process the IP address of the server is being displayed. Login password for root is: starface . You should change it soon for security reasons - the shell command is: passwd .
• Minimize VMware Player and open a web browser.
• Open the browser settings to activate JavaScript and allow popups and cookies for the IP address of the server.
• Enter the IP address.
• The window for the initial configuration of STARFACE is loaded and you can begin with the system settings.

STARFACE VMware Image offers all features bar telephone conferences and operation of ISDN or analog cards.
